14 Stories is a MRSter Approved boutique wedding planning firm based in Massachusetts! Their vision is for “a wedding industry fully inclusive of all couples, including LGBTQ couples” [14 Stories].

This is something that they have been working on since they opened their doors in 2004; making them the first firm in the country to specialize in planning legal same-sex weddings!

There are so many awesome things to say about this company, that I don’t even know where to begin. But the reasoning behind the name ’14 Stories’ seems like a pretty good place to start…

The number 14 is a powerful number in marriage’s civil rights history. Not only is 14 the U.S. Constitutional Amendment that was used to dismantle segregation and end the ban on interracial marriage, but 14 was also the number of plaintiffs in the historic court case that first legalized gay marriage in Massachusetts (this was the same year that 14 Stories opened their doors).

“We think this number is a great reminder of the importance of civil rights for all citizens. We believe that these individual stories – and your stories – are the stories that change the world. Our work is to translate these stories and symbols into once-in-a-lifetime, one-of-a-kind weddings”.

Another awesome thing about this company is that the founder and president, Bernadette Smith, is also a MRSter Advisory Board Member. Find out more about her here! This wonderful lady is the nation’s leading same-sex wedding expert, and not only produces extraordinary weddings for same-sex AND straight couples, but she is also a huge LGBTQ wedding advocate and educator; launching the Gay Wedding Institute in 2009, which “continues to be a national thought leader, researcher and educator on gay and lesbian weddings” [14 Stories]. Oh, and you know, she “wrote a few books on LGBT wedding planning, built a gay wedding planning app, and is the expert blogger on TheKnot.com and also the Huffington Post. She’s been featured on the Today Show, CNN, in The New York Times and more, and regularly speaks about LGBT weddings around the country“.  Phew, what an incredible woman right?!

But she doesn’t do it alone! Since 2004, the whole team of professionals at 14 Stories have produced hundreds of same-sex weddings, for couples from almost every U.S state and around the world. Find out all about the awesome team behind this awesome company here.

Though based in Massachusetts, 14 Stories have teams actively wedding planning in Chicago, New York, Boston, and anywhere else that you’d like to go! This company are same-sex wedding experts, and you can trust that they will make your wedding day “as magical as the day you first met” [14 Stories].

They have a variety of packages, as well as elopement options available. Whether you want to get married in the US, or are thinking of an overseas adventure, “14  Stories will go anywhere – and we know the top LGBT-friendly destinations and properties in the world” [14 Stories]. Giving back to the community is one of the core values of this company, and because of that, for each full service wedding, the company makes a donation to charity on each couple’s first anniversary. They are THAT awesome!

So, “whether you are looking for an intimate wedding experience with a handful of guests, an elegant small dinner party or a big celebration, we have the service for you” [14 Stories].
