Phoenix, ARIZONA :: Kishia & Jen :: Colorful Farm Wedding // Real LGBTQ Wedding

Kishia and Jen wanted a beautiful outdoor casual morning celebration of their love and {MRSter Approved} The Farm at South Mountain couldn’t have been a better backdrop to their day. They had musician friends playing guitar and singing throughout the day, including a special song sung during the ceremony. Both Kishia and Jen’s daughters were in the ceremony, and two friends married them and did a fabulous job with the ceremony.

I could see Kishia and Jen’s love for their tribe throughout the wedding. I loved the moment right before the kiss where the officiant made the two wait for the big moment, causing hearty laughs from Kishia, Jen and their guests before he finally let them have their kiss to seal the deal!

It was such an honor to document their joy-filled, colorful wedding and Jen and Kishia were so open and warm and joyful.

Colorful. Friends & Family. Beautiful Brides.

Wapwallopen, PENNYSYLVANIA :: Caitlyn & Connor :: Oh Christmas Tree! // Real Engagement

:: Oh Christmas Tree!  ::

Submitted & Photographed by :: Kim Spath Photography

Caitlyn and Connor are one of my 2016 couples! Since their wedding is in the fall, we decided to go for a different feel to their engagement shoot. The shoot happened in November, so it was the perfect time to enjoy the Christmas tree farm! When I told them about my idea they were totally open to it and came perfectly prepared for a cold and wintry shoot! We all froze a little bit that day, but even so, this is one of my favorite engagement shoots of all time! The colors are muted but warm, and the couple were absolute perfection in front of the camera!

Phoenix, ARIZONA :: Happy Anniversary to Karen & Nelda - Arizona's First Same Sex Couple To Marry // Flashback Friday // Real LGBT Wedding

:: Happy Anniversary to Karen & Nelda ::

Photographed by :: Largo Photography

On November 23rd, 2014, the most historical wedding in the history of Arizona took place. The wedding of Karen and Nelda. Today, we hope you will join us in wishing them a very happy anniversary, and enjoy the incredible images from their day.

Though just over a year has passed since the wedding of these wonderful ladies, the whole day still stands out vividly in my mind. Karen and Nelda were one of the very first same-sex couples to obtain a marriage certificate in Arizona, and it was incredible to celebrate their union with a wedding event produced by local MRSter vendors.

The day started at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Phoenix; the perfect venue for Karen and Nelda’s wedding ceremony. What a stage! The team did an incredible job with ensuring the lighting was perfect, and Butterfly Petals {MRSter Approved} blew everyone away with the floral wall that they designed and executed for the big day. It. Is. Rad!

After the moving ceremony, the guests made their way to the reception venue – The Farm at South Mountain {MRSter Approved}. The whole evening was full of love, laughter, and plenty of dancing! It was so wonderful to see such a huge number of guests there to celebrate the love that Karen and Nelda share. Later in the evening, Serendipity Cinematography {MRSter Approved} surprised Karen and Nelda with a same day edit, and I can assure you that there was not a dry eye in the house!

Thank you to all of those involved for making this the most epic wedding. After almost a 57 year engagement, Karen and Nelda needed a wedding with a wow factor… Something I think you can all agree was achieved thanks to all of the incredibly talented vendors involved. Thank you for being a part of Karen and Nelda’s journey.

You can find out more about Karen and Nelda’s love story here.

Queen Creek, ARIZONA :: Brandon & Corbin :: Rustic Farm Romance // Real LGBT Wedding

:: Rustic Farm Romance ::

Submitted by :: Groom, and MRSter Advisory Board Member, Corbin Chamberlin

Corbin Chamberlin, a journalist who contributes to the New York Times, Financial Times and among others, Elle Magazine finally met Mr. perfect with Brandon Randall. The wedding was extremely intimate, with about a 100 guests who flew all the way to little Arizona from Switzerland, Tokyo, New Zealand and Minnesota. Both Brandon and Corbin are originally small-town boys, so the venue, Scnhepf Farms was perfect. The ceremony took place in the backyard of the farmhouse. Simple white chairs sat underneath massive pine tress, lit by the setting Arizona sun. Brandon and Corbin’s daughters took part in the wedding, Harlow (4) was the flowergirl-extrodinare, and little Everly (1) helped her dad, Corbin get down the aisle. After the ceremony, the guests walked a few hundred feet to the peach orchard where a long white table, adorned with rustic arrangements held dinner. Serenaded by a singular guitarist, dinner was smashing. Toasts were given and the two grooms couldn’t stop smiling. The juxtaposition of a few glamorous Editor-in-Cheifs, celebrities and bloggers sitting in the rustic farm setting  just seemed right. After the cake was cut and best-wishes were given, Brandon and Corbin took off in their getaway car, provided by Rolls-Royce.

Sadie & Nora :: A Quaint Occasion // Real LGBT Wedding

:: A Quaint Occasion ::

Submitted by :: Melissa Hesse of Rivets and Roses

This fall wedding was small, and quaint. It was hosted on a farm with run down barns, and corn fields that you could see for miles.  The ceremony was intimate, and filled with laughter. Rustic breads, and meats filled the reception table while champagne filled the guest glasses at sunset. It was a short wedding day, and the couple was surrounded by their best friends, and family.

Boho Chic Wedding :: Santa Barbara, California // Real LGBT Wedding

:: Boho Chic Wedding ::

Submitted by :: Molly Hauge of MRSter Approved – Molly + Co

From the wedding creative team of Wild Heart Events, Molly + Co, and Rowan Oak Events:

The beautiful BoHo Chic inspiration of this day started with the amazing venue in Santa Barbara, CA.  An old Orchid Farm along the Gaviota Coast consisting of a series of old greenhouses with sweeping ocean views and ancient fig trees was the site for the festivities. We wanted to showcase the natural rustic beauty of the land and pay homage to the thousands of orchids that once grew there. The tablescape consisted of items that could be found on the property from everything from reclaimed wood, fresh vegetables, orchids, and cheesecloth to create a farm to table aesthetic.

Our florist created the most amazing installation above our sweetheart table using an iron rod and bare orchids, brushing off the roots for a very raw look and finished it off with hanging terrariums. Jaime of Wild Heart Events, the wedding planner, completed the design by placing radish napkin treatments, colored glassware and farm animal menu indicators. We even took plants out of their pots for the centerpiece, leaving the dirt on the roots to achieve a very organic farm feel.

The bride’s bouquets took queue from the wealth of natural elements and textures abundant along the Gaviota Coast. Our venue called for something rustic but we also wanted to honor the feminine as well. A grapevine crescent, tillandsia, cymbidium orchids, and bear grass gave one bouquet an architectural bent, while the other was more a traditional composition both in shape and content. We added drama to the natural setting by hanging bare root phaleanopsis orchid plants, iron lanterns, and large tillandsia above the table. Fresh produce finished the look and brought the intention of the greenhouse into the moment itself creating a richly organic experience.

We wanted to ensure our invitation represented the overall theme of the wedding, so the invitation suite was done all by hand on 100% recycled kraft paper. We also watercolored a floral pattern using greens and yellows to go with the greenhouse theme. We then mounted the invitation suite on a leather background to juxtapose the soft florals and cursive calligraphy to flow with the modern take on a greenhouse wedding.
