Villa Montalvo is an Italian Mediterranean style mansion nestled in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains, in Saratoga, California. The mansion has beautiful manicured landscaping, and it makes you feel as if you are in a romantic fairytale.  It’s why we chose it to stage a gorgeous, classic, feminine, glamorous and luxurious inspired shoot. My creative partners and I created the scene for a glamorous lesbian wedding, but staging to unique vignettes, a sweetheart table and cake display. We achieved this effect using a romantic combination of pinks, yellows, greens and gold. Of course it helps to be beautifully captured, and Christine Glebov of Christine Glebov Photography does exactly that.

To incorporate the glam we paired elements of ivory and pearl linens by Napa Valley Linens with ordinate menus and place cards by Lepenn Designs who also created the invitation suite. The lovely details of the brides’ wedding gowns from the fabulous Kinsley James Couture Bridal also added the glam and romance to this shoot. The hair and make-up team of Stella Stevens Hair Designs and Kristen Calderaro completed the “glamour” look for our couple

Our sweetheart table was arranged using the perfect vintage china by Le Vintage Milk Glass Rentals and paired with a few key items from A Monique Affair’s rental division, Chloe’s Closet. McCallum Designs beautiful lush romantic centerpiece incorporated the luxurious theme of the shoot.  A highlight of the shoot stars the gorgeous three tiered gold dusted, floral cascading cake by Marla Erojo of Cakes Made by M.E.

Our favorite part of the day was finding out during the shoot that our models (a real couple) got married at San Francisco City Hall in jeans! So this shoot took on a whole new meaning and a few tears from all. We hope you’ll take a minute to enjoy our styled shoot. I have to say this was the most creative shoot we have accomplished at A Monique Affair that truly takes on our signature style. On behalf of my creative partners, we would like to share this shoot as inspiration for all Same Sex couples!

Our wedding weekend was amazing! We hosted 100 guests at The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain in late September 2014. The weekend was a beautiful gathering of family and friends. The wedding was held on Saturday, 9/20. The ceremony and reception were outdoors at the base of the mountains, as dusk, as the sun started to tuck just behind the mountains and the sky glowed a magical rainbow of reds, golds, yellows, oranges and ambers. There were pretty memorable toasts from our wedding parties and heartwarming first dances with our mothers. Bill and I worked on our wedding details for one year. Everything was executed perfectly and not one beat was missed, thanks to the help of the staff at The Ritz. We had a vintage Polaroid camera table and guestbook for our guest to leave photo messages for us. After a 5 course meal, the night moved into dancing under the Kiva and then into the Members Grill with an afterglow buffet of chicken wings, french fries, quesadilla and homemade cookies (made by Darryl’s mother). We danced the night away and loved every second of our special day.

Thanks to The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain for welcoming us and making our guest feel at home. Our day was perfect! There was not one missed step in the execution of the wedding and events surrounding the weekend.  We were showered with love and support from all corners of the country. Our guests traveled from near and far to celebrate with us.

Alex & Augustina :: An Intimate Mid-Century Modern Wedding

Submitted by :: MRSter Approved – Kym Ventola Photography

Weddings come in all shapes, sizes and styles. Alex and Augustina’s mid-century modern wedding in Phoenix was the perfect example of an intimate, unique style that came together beautifully.

The wedding party was exceptionally quaint with just two bridesmaids and one groomsman. The ceremony style was that of simplicity and delight. The couple shared vows in a room at the Hotel Valley Ho- a place that is both colorful and muted  If you haven’t been to the hotel just imagine a scotch glass, Dean Martin and a contrasting desert scene surrounding it. It’s like a Palm Springs spectacle, but in Phoenix, and Alex and Augustina were beaming there the entire afternoon.

The color palette was pink, black, white, gold, and blue (even the bride wore a dazzling, modern dress by Max Mara to change things up a bit). Contrasting hues of bright pink peonies and light orange were where the pops of color were seen.

Following the ceremony there were photos at the hotel and a celebratory dinner at FnB- a nearby foodie hotspot where the same close group assembled for an evening meal gathered around one big table. The couple actually planned their entire day around dinner factoring in how many people the restaurant could accommodate. Additionally, the bride and some of her friends are vegan and vegetarian and FnB was the perfect place to provide them with a special meal.

Needless to say, this couple chose every detail with meaningful intentions and their love for those closest to them was very evident. It was a truly blissful, modern and quite uncomplicated day. Everything was perfectly balanced.
